LIVE SOUND METER / POLICIES

Privacy policy

Your microphone audio stays on your device. This policy explains local processing, website delivery, support messages and advertising.

Who we are and how to contact us

Live Sound Meter is an independently developed website at livesoundmeter.com. In this policy, “we” and “our” refer to the operator of Live Sound Meter. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at the address below.

Microphone data and measurement results

Microphone permission is requested only after you choose to start. Samples are processed locally in browser memory to calculate levels and charts. The meter does not record, save or upload raw microphone audio. Stopping a session, leaving the page or hiding the page releases the microphone.

Session statistics and report notes remain in temporary browser memory. A new measurement replaces the previous statistics; notes remain editable on the open page. Reloading clears both statistics and notes. Reports and CSV files are generated locally when you request them. They contain no audio but may include device information, timestamps and your notes. You control where you save them and with whom you share them.

Calibration and browser storage

Saving a reference alignment stores its offset, reference value and date under a key specific to the input device, sample rate and weighting. The meter does not send these values or the device-specific key to our server. They remain until you reset calibration, clear site storage or your browser removes them.

The meter does not create an account or cross-site tracking identifier. Advertising services, where used, have separate storage practices described below.

Hosting and security

We use Cloudflare to deliver and protect this website. The hosting infrastructure receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, requested URL, request time and browser or device metadata. Cloudflare may process this information and use security-related cookies to deliver the site and detect abuse. The meter does not include microphone samples, calibration values or report notes in these requests.

We do not maintain a server-side database of your measurements. Cloudflare processes delivery and security information according to its applicable service terms and privacy practices.

Advertising and cookies

We may display advertising through Google AdSense to support free access. When ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, may place or read cookies, use web beacons or similar technologies, and process IP addresses, device or browser details, page visits, identifiers and ad interactions.

Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to serve and personalize ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Data may also be used to measure ads and prevent fraud, subject to your choices and applicable requirements. The meter does not supply microphone audio, calibration values or report notes to Google for advertising.

Other ad technology providers participating in Google advertising may also receive information and use cookies. Where a consent message is shown, its partner list identifies participating providers and links to their privacy information. The Google resources below explain its data use and advertising partners.

Advertising choices and consent

Where required, including for relevant advertising in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we request consent through a consent management platform. You can accept or decline optional purposes and manage providers in that message. Where available, use its Privacy options or equivalent control to revisit your choices and withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred lawfully beforehand.

Manage personalized Google advertising through My Ad Center, or visit the Digital Advertising Alliance for participating vendors’ opt-out choices. Choices can depend on your browser, device or account and do not necessarily remove all advertising. Browser settings can also block or delete cookies; deleting them may reset saved consent choices.

Analytics and support messages

We do not currently install a separate third-party analytics service, such as Google Analytics. Hosting delivery and security metrics and any advertising measurement are separate from local sound measurements.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you include. We use it to answer your request, troubleshoot issues and maintain necessary correspondence. Email service providers process messages to deliver and store them. Please send only information needed for your request.

Retention, processing locations and legal grounds

Measurement data in the meter is temporary; calibration and exported files remain under your control as described above. We keep support messages for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request, resolve related issues and meet applicable obligations, then delete or anonymize them. Hosting and advertising providers apply retention practices described in their linked policies.

Hosting, email and advertising providers may process information in countries other than yours. Their policies describe processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards.

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on applicable legitimate interests to deliver and secure the website and respond to messages, consent for optional advertising processing where required, and legal obligations where applicable. Browser microphone permission enables local measurement; it does not give advertising consent.

Your controls and rights

You can revoke microphone access, reset calibration, clear site storage, delete downloaded files and manage advertising choices. The site has no account or server-side measurement record for us to retrieve or erase.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, restrict or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us to exercise applicable rights. We may request proportionate information to verify a request; some rights are subject to legal limits.

Children and external websites

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

External websites have their own operators and privacy practices, which apply when you visit them.

Policy updates

We may update this policy when the website, its services or applicable requirements change. The date below identifies the latest review. Material changes will be explained here and notified, or made subject to renewed consent, where required.
